Is misophonia a disability?

Yes, it can be. Misophonia can affect almost every aspect of life, including work, school, family, relationships, and even shopping and socializing. If misophonia disables someone—prevents them from participating in major life activities—then it could be a disability. Because of this, people who have misophonia which disrupts their lives can ask for accommodations at work and school to help them lead productive lives. Misophonia qualifies as a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act [ADA].
