What is the misophonia pronunciation?

The most common pronunciation of misophonia is miss-oh-FOE-nee-uh.

Misophonia comes from the Greek miso meaning “hatred” and phonia meaning “about sound”. However, it would be inaccurate to call misophonia a “hatred of sound”. Misophonia is not a personal preference about sound. In fact, misophonia is a legitimate sound sensitivity disorder that can have a profound impact on one’s quality of life.

However, using a commonly accepted term (despite its misleading etymology) puts misophonia sufferers, researchers, and advocates on the same page when discussing this unusual sensory disorder.
